She and the girls actually now have a nice relationship and Maggie tends to check on them frequently and you can see her respond when she hears them crying. She enjoys being nearby and will come up to the girls from time to time for a sniff. It is sweet. Especially since they cannot yet chase her and she can always make a quick exit.
She is also being pretty needy with us. She gets a little upset when we leave and got into some unusual mischief yesterday while we had our visitors.
Maybe for a bit of attention, she got ahold of a diaper of the nastiest variety, which was on its way to the garbage can, and tore it apart on our outdoor deck when we were inside. Stacey had the misfortune of picking up the diaper pieces and also giving Maggie a bath. Hopefully this will not become habitual - we are certainly going to guard such diapers more carefully in the future.
Maggie will forgive being moved to the bottom of the list once the girls are truly dropping dinner(and breakfast and lunch) in the floor and especually once the girls learn to throw a ball for her, she does retrieve, doesn't she? When my daughter was born, Norma Jean(our dog) was depressed for weeks until she figured out that it meant more food for her...thanks for the pictures of the girls and Peter-ADORABLE!
